Right after the much-anticipated launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo, a man in Chandigarh has announced a unique iPhone langar. Organized by Amritsar businessman and social media influencer Rakesh Trehan aka Raja D King, the event was touted as a distribution event where iPhones would be given away like prasad.
Viral iPhone langar in Chandigarh
He said that in his ‘iPhone Langaru’, 10 lucky people out of 100 will get free Apple iPhone 17 and above. He added that it will be held on September 22 in Chandigarh. He claimed that “Jai Mata Di” revealed the date and other details of the event to him.
Telephonic distribution has been scheduled between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM for the residents of Chandigarh and Mohali.
Who is iPhone Organizer Langar Raja D King
Rakesh Trehan popularly known as Raja D King is said to be a businessman and internet personality from Amritsar.
Trehan claims to be a cryptocurrency trader and former stock market investor.
Earlier, he made headlines after announcing ‘Petrol Langar’ in Chandigarh. As part of the previous initiative, he offered people free petrol at selected gas stations. Value of fuel coupons ₹500 was distributed among two- and three-wheeler owners, while four-wheeler owners were reportedly promised coupons worth ₹1000.
However, the massive crowd led to the closure of the event at the venue. Police reportedly arrived as hundreds of people led to overcrowding and ordered the gas station to be temporarily closed.
Earlier, Trehan shared his plan to donate 90 percent of his fortune. During an interaction with the media, he said that he wants to give away most of his wealth, which he inherited from his father besides his own wealth, according to PTI.
Trehan is said to have recently distributed food supplies and ₹500 notes to people in Chandigarh.
iPhone langar canceled by Chandigarh police
Ahead of his iPhone langar, India Today reported that authorities in Chandigarh had not approved Trehan’s proposed September 22 distribution event. Officers reportedly cited safety concerns and the possibility of a stampede-like situation as the primary reasons.
According to the same report, Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav ordered the police to stop the action in the city. He added that an uncontrolled gathering as such could become difficult to control along with a possible risk to public safety.
Yadav said Trehan was suggested to use his resources for other forms of social service. However, Trehan has not yet publicly responded to the development.
