Indian influencer loses her iPhone 16 Pro in Japan for the fifth time – What she found next stunned her | Today’s news

Pragati, an Indian influencer who runs the Instagram account Lucknowi in Japan, left viewers amused after she shared a video of losing her iPhone 16 Pro in Japan – again. The influencer said it was the fifth time she’d lost her phone there, but she ended up finding it right where she left it.

In the video, Pragati joked about her habit of forgetting where she puts her phone. “Everyone says that turning off the phone is a very bad thing, but for me not turning on the phone is a very bad thing because I forget my phone somewhere and then I remember it after 2-3 hours,” she said.

She then used another phone to locate the missing iPhone using Apple’s Find My feature. As she walked towards the location shown on the map, she remembered several previous incidents where she had lost her phone.

Pragati said she had earlier found her phone at the police station and another time at the vegetable market. She also remembered leaving her in the exam room twice.

She was surprised not only that the phone was found every time, but that it was still where she left it.

How Japan deals with lost and found items

Japan has a formal system for dealing with lost property. The National Police Agency says people who find items can hand them in to a police station or police box, while items found in a particular facility should generally be reported to a manager. The police can then compare the found property with the lost property reports and return the items to their owners.

The system processes millions of lost and found items annually. In 2024, around 31.28 million recovered items were reported, including those retained by designated facilities, with about 11.41 million items returned to their owners.

Pragati ended her video by reflecting on how unusual her repeated experiences seemed.

“I don’t know if this is possible in any country, but somehow it happened to me 4-5 times in Japan,” she said. She then quipped, “So you see how distracted I am from my phone.”

Her husband, who was laughing while recording, then asked her to give him back his own phone – the device she used to record the video.

Sharing the clip on Instagram, Pragati wrote that losing the iPhone 16 Pro happened “AGAIN” and called it the fifth time. She asked followers how often they lost their phones and if they managed to get them back.

The comments quickly turned into a discussion of Japan’s reputation for recovering lost property. One user mentioned that she experienced similar security in Dubai, while another joked that Pragati’s repeated phone losses were just an excuse to make her husband walk after meals.

Others compared her experience to their own in India. But for Pragati, the recurring pattern has become almost a running joke – she loses her phone, forgets about it for hours, and somehow finds it waiting exactly where she left it.
