Siya Goyal is accused of murdering her fiance Ketan Agarwal after she allegedly pushed him out of Lohagad Fort, which police believe was part of a planned conspiracy organized with her lover Chetan Chaudhary.

According to the police, Siya and Chetan saw Ketan as an obstacle in their relationship, prompting them to plan his murder instead of calling off the engagement publicly out of concern for the family’s reputation.

Police gathered evidence through call records showing more than 2,000 conversations between Siya and Chetan, CCTV footage from Lohagad Fort and testimonies of previous failed attempts to harm Ketan.

While some may argue their innocence, the evidence points to a premeditated conspiracy, and both victims’ families are demanding strict legal action against them, including the death penalty, if found guilty.

Siya reportedly tried to dislodge Ketan from Lohagad Fort on several occasions before his death, with failed attempts reported on 31 May, 4 June and 14 June, before the fatal incident on 18 June.

Her father Praveen Goyal, who is recovering from a heart attack, shared the same opinion. “Whoever is guilty in this case, even if it was my daughter, should be hanged,” he told the newspaper.

Praveen is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune. According to an NDTV report, Siya’s brother remains at the hospital to take care of both parents. Goyal’s family residence, ‘Leela Kunj’ in Market Yard, Pune, is locked.

2000 calls, secret meeting

Police told PTI that Siya and Chetan remained in constant contact for nearly six months, exchanged a staggering 2,004 calls and spent 238 hours on the phone before Ketan was allegedly chased to his death from Lohagad Fort.

They viewed Ketan as an obstacle in their relationship and decided to remove him, police said.

“The duo (Siya and Chetan) exchanged 2,004 phone calls in the last six months and spent about 238 hours talking to each other. Some of the calls between them lasted more than 2-3 hours,” Pune Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sandip Singh Gill said.

On the day of the incident, Siya and Chetan reportedly met at a coffee shop and discussed a plan to eliminate Ketan, even finding a suitable place in the fort from where they could be pushed out, he said.

“During the meeting, the two reportedly identified a suitable location on the fort from where Agarwal could be pushed into the valley and worked out the details of the execution of the plan,” Gill said.

He sabotaged the pre-wedding shoot plan in Bali

Siya allegedly sabotaged their plan to visit Bali for a pre-wedding shoot by losing Ketan’s passport on the way to the Mumbai airport on June 6, police said.

“Our investigation revealed that after stealing the passport from a car at a mall in Khalapur, Siya Goyal dumped it in the women’s toilet,” Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Tayde told PTI. “While we investigate the murder, a team will also be sent to the mall to see if the passport can be retrieved.

Siya and Ketan got engaged in February and were to marry in a grand wedding ceremony in Udaipur in November, for which a palace was booked.

It was not the first attempt at murder

During the initial investigation, Ketan’s sister Sanjana and other family members told the police that Siya had repeatedly convinced Ketan to accompany her to Lohagad Fort several times before the fatal incident.

“On May 31, Siya took Ketan to Lohagad Fort. She again insisted that he go to Lohagad Fort on June 4. However, Ketan’s mother did not allow him to go there a second time,” the official said.

Siya again insisted that Ketan go to Lohagad on 14 June. She allegedly tried to push him off a cliff that day. However, he managed to keep the bush.

When Ketan asked why she pushed him, Siya raised a false alarm about the snake and tried to make it look like she was protecting him.
