Who is Siya Goyal? 20-year-old accused of pushing fiance Ketan Agrawal out of Lohagad Fort months before wedding | Today’s news

The death of 26-year-old real estate executive Ketan Agrawal in Pune has put his fiancee Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary at the center of a high-profile murder investigation.

What was initially believed to be an accidental fall has now turned into a case of murder after police claimed that Goyal and Chaudhary confessed to pushing Agrawal out of Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18.

Clues that led investigators to the accused

According to investigators, several details helped them piece together the alleged plot.

Police were looking into Siya’s repeated requests to visit Lohagad Fort, Agrawal’s missing passport and the unusual clothes Chaudhary was wearing during the trip. Police believe this and other evidence helped uncover what they say was a planned murder.

As more details emerged, public attention shifted to Siya Goyal and her alleged attempts to pass off the incident as an accident.

Who is Siya Goyal?

Siya Goyal, 20, hails from a well-known business family in Pune. Her family is into dry fruit business and lives in Bibwewadi town area.

Earlier this year, she got engaged to Ketan Agrawal, director of the family’s real estate company Success Group. The match was allegedly arranged through Agrawal’s maternal uncle.

The couple was set to get married in Udaipur in November. Hotels were already booked and both families were expected to spend 14 million for wedding celebrations.

Relationship with Chetan Chaudhary

Police say Goyal was in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary for about a year before Agrawal’s death.

Chaudhary’s family also runs a business in Pune and investigators believe the two met in business circles. They remained in regular contact throughout the relationship, police said.

Two visits to Lohagad Fort

Cops say Goyal and Agrawal visited Lohagad Fort for a trek four days before his death. During that visit, she allegedly tried to push him against a cliff after she said she saw a snake.

Police say Goyal later convinced Agrawal to return to the fort on June 18, a day before her birthday. It was during this second visit that she allegedly pushed him out of the fortress.

After the incident, Goyal reportedly told the cops that Agrawal had accidentally slipped while taking pictures near the edge.

Birthday plans before the tragedy

Videos shared on social media show Agrawal preparing an elaborate birthday party for Goyal ahead of his 20th birthday on June 19.

Relatives said he spent nearly a month organizing the event and wanted to make the occasion special for her.
