Delhi is all set to host India’s first ever Global Pineapple Festival, which will bring the famous Pineapple Queen of Tripura, authentic North Eastern tribal cuisine, cultural performances, craft markets, handicrafts, artisan demonstrations, cultural performances, folk music, traditional dance and other exciting activities.

Date, Time and Place of Pineapple Festival

The pineapple festival will start on the occasion of the International Pineapple Day on June 27. The three-day event will continue till June 29 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from 10 am to 9 pm on all days.

The main attraction of the Pineapple Festival

Centered around the GI-labeled Queen Pineapple, the festival will feature dozens of stalls featuring fresh pineapples, jams, jellies, chocolates, juices, preserves and innovative pineapple-based creations from local entrepreneurs and food processors. Royal GI Pineapple is known for its sweetness, aroma and premium quality.

This festival is a key attraction for foodies, families, students, makers and those who want to explore the culture of Northeast India. To promote agricultural exports and support local farmers, the event will also host buyer-seller meetings and business forums.

A few days ago, Tripura added another feather to its cap with the traditional ‘Tripura Sarinda’, a unique indigenous stringed musical instrument, which has been awarded the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) label. Marking a significant achievement in preserving and promoting the rich folk traditions of the northeastern state, the GI recognition was given under the name “Tripura Sarinda (musical instrument), PTI reported. The state now has four GI-marked products apart from the famous ‘Tripura Queen Pineapple’, including ‘Tripura Risha and Pachra (Rignai)’, ‘Rignai)’.

“The GI tag for Tripura Sarinda is a proud moment for our state. It will play a key role in preserving and promoting our traditional musical heritage while creating new opportunities for artisans and musicians,” PTI quoted Tripura Chief Minister Saha as saying.
