Abhijeet Dipke tells Cockroach Janta Party to unveil action plan for nationwide agitation: ‘We will not back down until….’ | Today’s news
Abhijeet Dipke, founder of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), an online youth initiative, said on Sunday that the agitation against alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment processes will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
Addressing reporters, Dipke said the protest held under the banner of the CJP at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday was a great success and claimed that nearly 7,000 people participated in the demonstration. He also announced plans to expand the movement across the country.
“The protest we organized (at Jantar Mantar) was successful as 6,000 to 7,000 people participated. This agitation will be nationwide. We will not back down until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. We will introduce another action plan to take this agitation nationwide,” PTI quoted Dipke as saying.
Dipke told X that many of those who took part in the protest had never participated in a demonstration before, but the collective participation gave them the confidence to express their anger and frustration with the education system. He mentioned that meaningful change would only be possible if people made their voices heard.
“I want to thank each and every one of you who braved the hot summer sun, young children and students included, and proved that peaceful protest is our greatest strength. The government cannot touch a united, peaceful movement. We cockroaches never have to fear them. But it doesn’t end there,” he said.
Dipke added, “Dharmendra Pradhan has wronged an entire generation. If he is not removed or resigns within the next 7 days, we will be forced to continue our protests on the ground.”
Abhijeet Dipke returns to India
Meanwhile, Dipke announced on Sunday that he would return to his hometown to visit his parents, prompting authorities to increase security around his residence.
After arriving in Delhi from the United States on Saturday morning, Dipke left the airport with a copy of BR Ambedkar’s autobiography. After getting permission from the Delhi Police, he proceeded to Jantar Mantar where the protest was held.
CJP Delhi protest
Protesters carrying placards calling for Pradhan’s resignation were seen wearing cockroach-themed masks distributed at the venue. Along with demanding the minister’s resignation, the participants criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for engaging in what they described as “Hindu-Muslim” politics and raised patriotic slogans such as “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.
The group has called on young people across the country to join a protest in Delhi over alleged irregularities in exams and recruitment tests to show broad public support.
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, CPI (ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPI leader Annie Raja as well as activists affiliated with various leftist student and youth organizations also took part in the protest.
