The latest weather update predicts rain in several areas in India on Saturday. According to the India Meteorological Department, the reported low pressure area over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is expected to bring rainfall near the south coast of Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh. Its impact is likely to vary across regions.
In North Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka witnessed rain at some areas today. Heavy showers are also expected in the next two to three days.
Odisha and Andhra Pradesh
Heavy rains lashed the city of Puri in the middle of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. A yellow alert has been issued for Baleshwar region, while the low pressure area is likely to become more prominent and move west-northwest over Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, ANI reported.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with strong winds are expected at most places in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The IMD has forecast wind speed reaching 50-60 km/h with gusts up to 70 km/h for coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 12 September. Heavy rain may continue after Saturday, although this has not been confirmed.
Rain forecast for Delhi during BRICS
Delhi is expected to remain mostly cloudy on Saturday with light to very light rain forecast in selected areas amid the ongoing BRICS Summit 2026. Light rain with possibility of thunder and lightning is expected from afternoon to evening. The maximum temperature of the national capital is said to be somewhere between 30°C and 32°C and minimum 24°C-26°C. Not only Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh are expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall till September 17. Isolated but heavy rain may lash Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on Sunday and Monday.
Rajasthan
After light to moderate rainfall in several districts of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal-Tijara, Deeg, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Bundi and Kota, the weather is expected to remain dry in other regions, PTI officials said on Saturday.
Bihar Flood Update
Meanwhile, the flood-like situation in Bihar worsened on Saturday as per the latest update. About 48 million people in 15 districts were affected as several rivers, including the Ganga, flowed above danger levels, the disaster management department said on Saturday.
Districts like Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Buxar, Samastipur, Munger, Katihar, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Purnia, Madhepura and Araria remain affected due to incessant rain and downpour in the catchment areas of Nepal.
Bihar has recorded 104.1 mm of rainfall so far in September. The Meteorological Service has predicted partly cloudy skies over most of the state for the next two days. Strong winds are also expected.
Uttar Pradesh flood
Apart from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh districts of Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Bahraich, Badaun, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Kaushambi, Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Moradabad, Kapurabad, Sāpurayag, Srampurraj Shahjahanpur, Unnao and Varanasi are also affected by floods.
The state recorded heavy rainfall of 7-11 cm on 11 September. Parts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness isolated to scattered rain till September 17 with possibility of thunder and lightning.
