Monsoon tracker: Conditions favorable for advance of SW Monsoon, says IMD, predicts isolated thunderstorm in Delhi | Today’s news
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday that the northern boundary of the monsoon continues to pass through Surat, Indore, Mandla, Daltonganj and Motihari. In its daily bulletin, the meteorological agency also said that conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon to some other parts of North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar and some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 3-4 days.
The IMD predicts isolated to scattered rainfall
According to the IMD, isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab on Sunday and Monday.
West Uttar Pradesh is likely to witness isolated to scattered rainfall during June 29 to July 3, while eastern areas of the state may witness showers on June 28 to 30. The IMD bulletin also said that Rajasthan will experience widespread rains from June 28 to July 3.
IN central IndiaThe IMD said isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh during June 28 to July 3.
IN east indies, widespread rainfall has been forecast over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 28 June to 3 July, while Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha may experience similar showers during 28 June to 3 July. According to the IMD, Jharkhand and Bihar may also experience rains between June 29 and July 3.
Over North East IndiaThe IMD said widespread rains are likely over Arunachal Pradesh from June 28 to July 1. Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura could see rains till July 3.
For western indiesThe IMD has predicted widespread rainfall over Konkan and Goa during June 28 to July 3.
IN Southern Peninsular IndiaThe IMD said Isolated to Scattered rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal between June 28 and July 3, while North Interior Karnataka may experience showers on July 1. Rains are also expected over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam between June 29 and July 3.
Heat wave warning
The IMD said heat waves are very likely in isolated pockets over Bihar and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on June 28. Isolated areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh could experience severe heat waves during June 28-30, the IMD said. Similar severe heat waves are also likely in isolated areas of West Uttar Pradesh on June 28 and 29, the IMD said.
