Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Sunday wished all the best to the NEET UG aspirants who are scheduled to appear for the crucial medical entrance test. The CJP founder and supporters continued their overnight protest at Jantar Mantar and urged students to join the ongoing demonstration on Sunday after their National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG).

Abhijeet Dipke shared a video message on X, the caption of the post reads, “Good luck to all the NEET reexam aspirants. We wish you all the best. Join us at Jantar Mantar after the exam is over, we look forward to meeting you all!”

The protesters demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak controversy, greater accountability and structural reforms. The demonstration entered its second day on Sunday even after the Delhi Police said permission had been granted for a peaceful assembly on June 20 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and asked the protesters to vacate the site.

“Celebrating democracy with a movement. Join us all in this celebration – tomorrow morning we will again demand Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. This celebration will continue through the night; the cockroaches will leave only after they secure Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation,” the CJP said in a post on X.

The CJP founder asked the police to allocate another venue for the protest as the organization sought to continue the sit-in until their demand was met.

“We are holding the fort, but without your support this movement will not succeed,” said a post on X. In another post, he complained that the Delhi Police had restricted protesters’ access to water, food, electricity, washrooms and the venue.

Despite the continuity of their peaceful sit-in protest, Dipke stated, “I request the police not to stop people from coming to Jantar Mantar. We are not doing anything wrong, we are just seeking justice for the students who committed suicide.” After he complained about being denied access to basic amenities, access to drinking water was restored and the lights were turned back on.

According to the Delhi Police, continuing the protest beyond the permitted time was a violation of the conditions of the permit, which could trigger legal action. Dipke reiterated his call for a dialogue with the Center on the demands of the youth-led organisation, asserting that the channel for talks would remain open if accountability was established and the education minister stepped down.

Several protesters carried placards and raised slogans and the atmosphere at Jantar Mantar remained charged throughout the night as protesters continued to raise slogans demanding Pradhan’s resignation.

On Friday, Dipke addressed a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide. Implying that the cause of their deaths was a system failure, he demanded 1 million in compensation to provide immediate financial assistance to affected families.

“As these families have lost the very children in whose education they have invested their life savings, these families have been left completely destitute. The government must step in to provide immediate relief. We demand that your administration release a compensation of one million rupees to all the families who have suffered suicide due to the growing paper leak crisis,” the paper said.
