Samvidhana Samrakshana Samiti will stage a stage play titled ‘Yellara Ambedkar’ based on the life and legacy of BR Ambedkar at Kalaburagi on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, the samiti’s district president Mahantesh Kaulagi and state secretary Anilkumar Beldar said that the one-and-a-half-hour play will highlight the academic, political and social journey of Dr. Ambedkar, his struggles, achievements and contribution to the nation.
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge will inaugurate the event while Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil and Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board Chairman Ajay Singh will be the guests.
Senior Dalit leader Vitthal Doddamani will preside over the event.
Presented in association with Hyderabad-based Abhyudaya Arts Academy, the play features a 30-member ensemble.
The group has performed over 700 shows of ‘Yellara Ambedkar’ in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in Telugu and will now perform in Kannada for the Kalaburagi audience.
Play written in Kannada by K. Devendra, directed by Shivaprasad Thamu, with music by Ismail Gonal and Ravi Kalyan. The play will be presented in the auditorium of Dr. SM Pandit Rangamandir on Friday at 5 pm.
