
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal as well as south interior Karnataka on Friday and Saturday. Heavy rain is expected in Kerala and Mahe from Thursday to Saturday.
Hail is forecast in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday and Uttarakhand on Tuesday and Wednesday, it said, adding that heat conditions should persist in isolated areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh for the next four to five days.
The Met Office also said isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 60 km/h are likely to occur in northwestern India from Monday to Friday.
The IMD has also predicted scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers, lightning and gusty to gusty winds of 40-60 kmph over Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Monday to Sunday.
Similar weather conditions are expected over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Odisha between Monday and Friday and over Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar from Monday to Thursday.
The IMD also said isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Thursday to Saturday and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from Tuesday to Thursday. Hailstorm may occur in isolated parts of Bihar on Tuesday. Isolated light to moderate rain with thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 50 kmph is expected in Chhattisgarh between Wednesday and Friday, the company further said.
About the weather in the Northeast, the IMD said: “Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain with thundershowers, lightning gusty winds (speed reaching 30-50 kmph) likely over Assam and Meghalaya during 11-15; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 13-125 15, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 11-12.” of May.”
“Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Assam and Meghalaya during May 13-17, Arunachal Pradesh on May 17 with isolated heavy rainfall over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during May 15-17, Assam and Meghalaya on May 12, Arunachal Pradesh on May 13.
Weather in Rajasthan
According to the IMD, the maximum temperatures in parts of southwest Rajasthan are currently between 45°C and 47°C, with Barmer recording 46.8°C on Sunday, PTI reported. The Meteorological Office stated that day and night temperatures are likely to rise slightly in most of the state in the coming days.
Heat waves along with unseasonably warm nights are expected to affect parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions over the next four to five days. Southeast Rajasthan may also see temperatures in the range of 43°C to 45°C with similar weather conditions.
At the same time, parts of Bikaner division, Shekhawati region and northern areas of Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions could experience cloudy skies, dust storms with 40-50 kmph winds and light drizzle during the next 48 hours, the IMD said.
