The closure of the “dangerous” building in the campus Ernakula General Hospital, in which the district medical office worked earlier, affected patients requiring admission to psychiatric and de-vacultaneous treatment in the government institution.
The authorities were unable to admit patients to psychiatry and dependent on the dependent male department, which worked on the ground floor of the building after the structure was closed more than a month ago due to its dilapidated state.
“The 15 beds equipment took care of several people who required acceptance on alcohol, ganja and the dependence on cannabis. On average, about 20 to 22 people were admitted to the department,” Ajeesh Ramacandran, consultant and head of psychiatle ministry.
“With the remaining facilities, we have no choice but to refer to those who require access to Govt Hospitals. Medical College Hospital in Ernacula and Kottayam. However, outpatient services remain continuous on the second floor of the old outpatient block,” he said.
Since it is currently unavailable facilities, those who were unable to receive adoption at the Government Faculty of Medicine had to depend on private hospitals and pay the required fee while accepting services in the General Hospital without costs.
Dr. Shahirsha R, a superintendent hospital, said the space crisis was the main obstacle to assigning a place for the psychiatric ward. “We discussed various possibilities, including the establishment of a department in an old dialysis where maintenance work is taking place,” he said.
The demolition of dangerous structures in the hospital campus was hit by bureaucratic delays, which include multi -level processes such as the structures statement as ineligible for use, estimation for demolition and government approval for work.
