Sonam Wangchuk LIVE Updates News: After activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the Jantar Mantar protest site, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed that the Delhi Police was planning to “take action against our protest during the night or early hours of the morning”.
He asked people to join the CJP in a night vigil at Jantar Mantar “so that together we can march to Sansad” on July 20.
The CJP and Sonam Wangchuk staged a protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. They require a dialogue between the government and the gatekeepers on the matter.
Hi Sonam Wangchuk: The CJP said on Saturday that the Delhi Police had “forcefully” taken away the activist and admitted him to Safdarjung Hospital amid the hunger strike. When videos showed officials with Wangchuk covered in a white sheet, opposition leaders condemned the way Wangchuk was captured.
Wangchuk’s wife demanded that her husband be moved to a medical facility of his choice. According to her letter, she told the hospital that “the lack of transparency has shaken their confidence.”
Doctor Charu Bamba said Wangchuk remains conscious and clinically stable, but shows signs of dehydration and continues to refuse oral and intravenous fluid therapy despite repeated advice from doctors.
“She is definitely showing signs of dehydration. She needs treatment. But despite our counselling, she is refusing treatment. She is not even accepting oral rehydration fluids, electrolyte solutions or IV therapy,” she told ANI.
Dipke goes on hunger strike: CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the indefinite hunger strike shortly after educationist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 21 days, was forcibly removed from the protest site by the Delhi Police on Saturday and taken to Safdarjung Hospital.
Wangchuk’s removal from the Jantar Mantar protest site came two days before he was scheduled to march on Parliament on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday (July 20).
