The state government has directed the district administrations concerned to submit detailed proposals for acquiring land for the Angamaly-Sabari railway project, which the stakeholders want to revive even though it remained frozen for long.
The instructions were issued on Wednesday at an online meeting of district collectors and other concerned officials convened by KM Abraham, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and CEO, Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), sources said.
The Collectors of Ernakulam, Kottayam and Idukki, the three districts covered by the proposed project, have recently sent land acquisition proposals to the Transport Department. It is learned that the proposals included survey numbers and villages included in the project. The government has now sought details including the phases of various works started under the project earlier and the manpower required to open land acquisition offices, sources said. Details must be provided within a month.
The proposal submitted by the Ernakulam Collector based on inputs from the Southern Railway contains details of the staff required and the phases of the work initiated, the official said.
Meanwhile, the district administrations are waiting for the railway committee to clarify whether there has been any change in the focus of the proposed project. The officials who attended the meeting included the Collectors of Kottayam and Idukki and the Deputy Collector of Ernakulam.
