Reacting to the RSS route march that took place in his home constituency, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and Kalaburagi-in-charge Priyank Kharge said that the organization was forced to conduct its march strictly in accordance with the directions issued by the district administration.
Speaking to the media at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Sunday, he said the administration had determined every aspect of the event – the number of participants allowed, the prescribed route and who could be present. “Everything is decided by the administration,” he noted.
Asked if the episode indicated an ongoing confrontation between him and the RSS, Mr Kharge said the process had “only begun”.
He reiterated that the RSS is not a registered organization and that once it falls in the tax net, its collections, including ‘gurudakshine’, will be audited. “They call it ‘gurudakshine’. But if the organization is not registered, shouldn’t the accounts of those who contribute to it also be audited?” he asked.
Mr. Kharge also alleged that during the previous BJP government, KKRDB funds were misused by RSS-connected individuals in Kalaburagi. “I will soon present you documents showing how RSS people looted KKRDB money in Kalaburagi,” he said.
