The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday continued its investigation into the Red Fort car bomb blast case and arrested another key associate, Jasir Bilal Wani, a terrorist involved in the blast, according to an official statement.
“Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, also a resident of Kashmir, was arrested from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir by the NIA team which was in the Valley on the case,” the NIA said.
Wani, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag, allegedly provided technical support to carry out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to manufacture missiles before the deadly car bomb blast, the agency said in a statement.
The agency is probing “various angles” to unravel the conspiracy behind the November 10 blast in the national capital.
“Several teams of the counter-terrorism agency are following several leads and conducting cross-state searches to identify all those involved in the terror attack,” it said.
The NIA has described Umar Un Nabi, who was behind the wheel when the car exploded near the Red Fort, as a “suicide bomber”. The NIA also used the term “vehicular IED” for the car.
Red Fort car blast: Death toll rises to 15
Meanwhile, the death toll in a car blast in Delhi has risen to 15 after two victims succumbed to their injuries.
According to the Delhi Police, the total death toll has reached 15, including three partial body parts. One of the victims succumbed to injuries yesterday while another victim, named Vinay Pathak, died today, as reported by ANI.
Investigators probing the terror module allegedly linked to Dr Umar Un Nabi, who security agencies have identified as the one who drove the explosive-laden car that caught fire in the November 10 blast at Red Fort, have found evidence of an organized internal structure, encrypted communication channels and coordinated movement of arms, official sources told ANI on Monday.
ANI, quoting sources, said that Umar created the group Signal three months ago using a name with special characters. He added Muzammil, Adeel, Muzaffar and Irfan to this encrypted communication platform, which investigators believe was used for internal coordination.
Delhi Police confirmed that the man who carried out the car blast near Red Fort was Dr Umar Un Nabi after forensic DNA tests matched his biological sample with that of his mother, ANI reported.
Al-Falah University, however, from Dr. Umara and Dr. Muzammila distanced herself, saying the university had no connection with the accused beyond their official capacities and that no questionable chemicals or materials were being used or stored on the university premises.
