The Puducherry team defeated the Andaman team by 34 runs in the final to emerge the winners of the All Indian Police South Zone T-20 cricket tournament at the Mulapadu ACA Stadium, here on Tuesday.
Puducherry batted first, scoring 192 runs for the loss of nine wickets, while the Andaman team scored 158 runs in 18.3 overs.
A total of 10 teams participated in the tournament, organized by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) and several educational institutions.
Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta presented the trophy to the winners at the APSP battalion in Mangalagiri.
The DGP said on the occasion that the tournament was organized on a grand scale and thousands of cricket lovers enjoyed the five-day tournament. “The 2nd All India South Zone T-20 Cricket Tournament has given a big relief to the police who are always busy with their duties,” said Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta. He congratulated the winners and runners-up.
Additional DG (Law and Order) N. Madhusudhan Reddy, IGPs (Sports) KV Mohan Rao, Ch. Srikanth, B. Raja Kumari, M. Ravi Prakash and SV Rajashekar Babu and others participated.
