
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelendy on Saturday before meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the second telephone conversation between the two leaders in August.
When he talked about his conversation with Zelena, PM Modi thanked the Ukrainian leader for his challenge and confirmed the support of India to restore peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“We have exchanged opinions on the ongoing conflict, its humanitarian aspect and efforts to restore peace and stability. India extends full support in this respect,” he wrote in the X post.
The call comes before the PM meeting with Vladimir Putin at the SCO Summit in China. PM modi and Volodymyr had previously spoken on 11 August when they dialed him.
In his statement, the Office of the Prime Minister stated that the President had shared his view of the recent development related to the conflict of Ukraine.
“The Prime Minister thanked the President Zlensky and reaffirmed the permanent and consistent position of India for peace settlement and support for efforts focused on the closest renewal of peace. PM from PM repeated the Indian commitment to expand all possible support,” PMO said.
PM Modi leaders and green also reviewed progress in bilateral partnerships in India-Ukraine. They discussed ways to “further strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest”. They agreed to stay in touch.
Green confirms a call with PM modi
Ukraine Zelsky also confirmed his call with PM Modi and said that he informed the Indian leader about his conversation with US President Donald Trump in Washington with the participation of European leaders.
Zelena and other European leaders visited the White House 18. August for discussions about the Russian War with Ukraine and a possible ceasefire.
“It was a productive and important conversation, a shared vision between partners on how to achieve a real level. Ukraine reaffirmed its readiness to meet the head of Russia,” he said Zelena.
“India is ready to make the necessary efforts and deliver a suitable signal of Russia and other leaders during a meeting at the Summit,” he added.
He reiterated the need for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia and said that his country’s position was “understood and supported by everyone”.
