According to the latest update of Indian Army’s Operation Pimple, two terrorists have been killed by security forces in Keran area of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. Army Chinar Corps shared the developments of the ongoing operation.
In a post on X Chinar Corps, he said: “Security forces have neutralized two terrorists in an ongoing operation. Area is being searched.”
The statement comes after the Army received intelligence from agencies regarding the infiltration attempt. Based on available inputs, a joint operation was launched in the Keran sector of Kupwara on 7 November. During a coordinated search operation, a specific area associated with suspicious activity was traced and “contact made.” According to the Indian Army, the infiltration attempt took place along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara.
The army suspected suspicious activity in Kupwara which resulted in a confrontation where terrorists opened fire on soldiers. Two terrorists were killed in the shootout.
In a post on X Chinar Corps, he said: “On 7 November 2025, based on specific intelligence from agencies regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in Keran’s Kupwara sector. Suspicious activity was intercepted by alert forces and engaged, resulting in the terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Contact established and terrorists captured. Operation is ongoing.”
This latest operation comes months after India’s landmark counter-terrorist move called “Operation Sindoor”, launched on May 7, 2025, following the Pahalgam terror attack. As many as 26 civilians were killed in the tragic terrorist attack.
J&K Police conduct searches in jails across the valley
In an unrelated development, the Counter Intelligence Service Kashmir (CIK) of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted searches in various jails across the Valley on Saturday.
“The CIK is conducting searches in various jails of Kashmir. If anything illegal is found during the searches, legal action will be taken,” PTI quoted the official as saying.
According to a PTI report, the Ganderbal police conducted massive search operations at 59 locations across the district, as part of a large-scale crackdown on anti-national activities, the operation targeted individuals with Pakistan-linked terrorists. With a mission to disrupt subversive networks, police teams in a coordinated effort by other security agencies tried to strengthen surveillance in the area.
