Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary Koppal District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mahantesh S. Daragada urged the litigating public to use the upcoming National Lok Adalat and special Samadhana Samaroh Lok Adalat to settle outstanding disputes through conciliation and mutual agreement.
Addressing a press conference at the DLSA office in the Koppal District Court premises on Friday, Mr. Daragada said that the National Lok Adalat would be held in Koppal district on July 11 under the leadership of Chief District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman Chandrashekhar C.
He said that the disputing public can get amicable settlement of various categories of cases during Lok Adalat, including civil suits, land acquisition cases, bank recovery matters, check bounce cases, road accident compensation claims, matrimonial disputes and complex criminal cases.
Mr. Daragada said settlement through Lok Adalat ensures a mutually acceptable solution and enables the litigating public to get full reimbursement of court fees paid in the cases. He appealed to the public to take advantage of the opportunity to ensure speedy disposal of cases.
He also announced that the Supreme Court of India will hold a special Lok Adalat called “Samadhana Samaroh” for three days on August 21, 22 and 23 to facilitate the settlement of pending cases in the Supreme Court through mediation and conciliation.
According to him, under the initiative, 4,328 cases relating to Karnataka pending in the Supreme Court have been identified for disposal.
Of these, 61 cases falling under Koppal district have been identified so far, out of which 60 are civil and one is criminal.
A litigant with pending cases in the Supreme Court can also register for settlement through a special Lok Adalat by approaching the legal services authorities at the taluk, district or state levels, he said.
Mr. Daragada added that selected disputes can be resolved at the district or taluk level itself through mediators appointed under the legal services mechanism.
Court staff and DLSA officials were present at the press conference.
