Kolkata Knight Riders continued their remarkable comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. After starting their campaign without a single win in their first six matches, they appeared on the verge of an early exit from the tournament. However, Ajinkya Rahane’s men have now put together four straight wins to climb to seventh in the points table.
DC vs KKR: HIGHLIGHTS | SCORECARD
on friday, Knight Riders beat Delhi Capitals by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Chasing a target of 143, the three-time champions completed the chase in just 14.2 overs. The trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Anukul Roy strangled the DC batting line-up before Finn Allen’s stunning 47-ball century led KKR home in emphatic fashion.
Rahane was earlier criticized for his captaincy when KKR were struggling and looked completely out of sorts. However, the veteran showed tremendous composure and leadership to keep KKR alive in the playoff race. The big question now is what else KKR need to do to secure a place in the playoffs and how difficult the road will be from here.
KKR MAY YET GO SMOOTHLY
The 2026 season is the sixth edition of the 10-team IPL. On each previous occasion, teams with 16 or more points qualified for the playoffs without having to rely on net run calculations.
If KKR win their remaining four matches, they will add another eight points to their tally and finish with 17 points overall, which should ensure direct qualification without depending on complex permutations and combinations. However, if they lose one more game, pure run rate can enter the equation.
The Knight Riders will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday, May 13 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. A win in this clash would keep KKR firmly in contention for the playoffs while increasing the pressure on the other teams fighting for a top four spot.
