MOOCs Workshop to Strengthen Digital Higher Education in AP

Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) in collaboration with Acharya Nagarjuna University and supported by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) will host a five-day hands-on workshop on design, development and delivery of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

Scheduled from June 29 to July 3, 2026, the program will bring together more than 60 faculty members, academic leaders, instructional designers and technology experts from universities and affiliated colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

A statement issued on Friday said the initiative aims to build a nationwide ecosystem for online education by enabling faculty to create high-quality MOOCs for national and international platforms such as SWAYAM, NPTEL, edX, Coursera and MIT OpenCourseWare.

As part of the pilot phase, APSCHE is introducing undergraduate MOOCs in emerging fields, including artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. Courses in artificial intelligence are tailored for students across life sciences, business, management, humanities, mathematical sciences, computer science, data science, cyber security and related disciplines, while quantum technology will be offered as a minor.

Each MOOC will carry four academic credits, addressing the faculty shortage in frontier technologies.

The workshop follows an innovative six-quadrant pedagogical framework that includes e-content, e-tutorials, blended learning, assessment, interactive platforms and industry engagement.

APSCHE also plans to set up a dedicated state MOOC platform integrated with Academic Credit Bank (ABC) and National Academic Depository (NAD), which further strengthens the digital education infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh and supports the goals of NEP-2020 and RUSA.
