Former YSRCP minister and district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy staged a protest outside Podalakur police station in Nellore on Saturday, demanding suspension of a sub-inspector (SI) for allegedly beating up a party worker without reason.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr. Govardhan Reddy said, “YSRCP leader Hari of Navoorpalli village of Podalakur mandal in the district questioned an Assistant Engineer (AE) of the Electrical Department for accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 for providing a farm connection.”
“SI Hanif called Hari to the police station, beat him miserably and threatened YSRCP workers. There are many allegations against the SI and he should be suspended immediately,” alleged the former minister.
“Once YSRCP comes to power, we will take action against the officers who caused trouble to party workers without any reason,” he warned.
After the DSP assured to conduct an inquiry into the incident and take necessary action, Mr. Kakani called off the protest.
