Aman Goel, the founder of GreyLabs, caused quite a stir on X after revealing that he was paying ₹1 lakh per month to your home manager who takes care of everything from household chores to grocery shopping and other daily tasks. He explained the reasons for the decision, stating that both he and his wife work and hiring an in-house manager has saved them “a lot of headache and time”.
In his social media post, he clarified that the person hired as a full-time head of household is responsible for meal planning, wardrobe management, overseeing repairs and maintenance, handling food and laundry, and coordinating with other service providers as his wife Harshita Tak is also a working professional.
Aman Goel, an IIT Mumbai graduate, and his wife, an IIT Kanpur graduate, live with Goel’s parents and work to build and develop GreyLabs. Due to their busy schedules, the couple decided to delegate household duties to a trained home manager, who now oversees everything from meal planning and grocery shopping to repairs and maintenance.

“I actually hired a Home Manager who is a full-time person who takes care of everything from meal planning, wardrobes, repairs, maintenance, food, laundry, etc. He basically manages all the home help and service providers and frees up our time,” said Goel.
“We needed it because Harshita and I are both working professionals and we don’t have time for that. We want our full energy to focus on building GreyLabs,” he explained.
Goel pointed out that the salary of a domestic manager is significantly higher than that of a typical domestic worker. In his post on X, he shared that his home manager is earning ₹1 lakh per month or ₹12 lakh per annum and is a trained professional who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of a hotel chain.
“The person who works with us is educated and has served as an operations manager in a hotel chain. We pay them 100,000 rupees a month. Expensive? Probably yes. But we value our time and can afford to pay, so we pay,” he revealed.
The CEO of GreyLabs added that since he and his wife are busy with work, they did not want to burden his elderly parents with running the household.

“It’s the task of managing a house – cooking, cleaning, groceries, maintenance, repairs, etc. We felt we could delegate that work,” he said.
How social media users reacted:
His revelation drew some ridicule online, with critics accusing him of “burning investors’ cash”. Goel denied the allegations and clarified that he was paying the domestic manager from his personal account.
“It’s my personal money that I made by selling my previous business for millions of dollars,” he said.

Some users criticized him for prioritizing work, with one writing: “Don’t be this man. Your life is far more important than any company you build or the amount of money you make. Live life.”
However, many others defended him. User X Srijan R Shetty commented: “He’s someone who hired a Home Manager – by paying more than the market average wage – so he and his wife can focus on their careers and their parents can be well taken care of (parents stayed with them). Funny how you can be an honest husband, son, employer and still be brought up by anon for no reason.”
