
The Madras High Court on Monday (April 20, 2026) dismissed a batch of nine writ petitions filed by DMK Rajya Sabha member R. Girirajan seeking a direction to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to register money laundering cases against AIADMK leaders SP Velumani, C. Vijamanijayabaskar, T. Vijamanijabaskar, T. Kamaraj, KP Anbalagan, KC Veeramani and two others on the basis of corruption cases filed against them.
First Division Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan dismissed the petitions after ED Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) N. Ramesh questioned their maintainability and the standing of the MP to file such petitions when he was neither a complainant nor a witness in any of these corruption and Vigilance Director corruption cases investigated by the DVAC director.
