The Circle Inspector of the One Town Police Station here, M. Maheshwara, has been suspended following serious allegations of corruption related to cricket betting operations.
The inspector allegedly collected large sums of money, said to be in the millions, from individuals involved in betting. The matter came to light during a recent crackdown on police stations in two cities where several bookies were arrested. Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi has recommended disciplinary action against Mr. Maheshwar based on a preliminary investigation.
