Happy birthday, FLOTUS! The White House wished the “wonderful” first lady of the US, Melania Trump, a happy birthday with the post X. Melania turned 56 on Sunday, April 26.
In a belated birthday post, the White House shared a picture of US President Donald Trump and Melania from the gala on Saturday night, writing: “Happy birthday to our amazing First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump!”

The birthday post came after her husband, President Trump, spoke to reporters about her response to the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, April 25.
Melania “knew immediately what happened” and said, “That’s a bad sound” when shots rang out in the lobby of the Washington Hilton, Trump recalled during the news conference.
“Melania was aware,” he said. “It was quite a traumatic experience for her.”
Melania ‘did a great job’
Donald Trump told reporters that Melania was always aware of the security threats associated with his role as US president.
“The first lady has done a great job. She loves the country. She knows it better than anyone,” he said. “But she has told me many times that you are in a dangerous job.

Melania’s birthday is last year
Last year, on her birthday, Melania spent time in the Vatican for the funeral of the late Pope Francis.
Melania, a “quiet” Catholic, had “no problem” spending the day mourning the Pope instead of celebrating her birthday, according to a PEOPLE report citing sources.
“She respected the pope,” the source said. “It’s a sad time for Catholics around the world and it’s an honor for the first lady to go to the funeral.”
About the attack on April 25
The April 25 shooting marks the third possible attempt on Donald Trump’s life after he was shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024 and had an assassination attempt on his golf course in Florida in September 2024.
Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Cabinet officials were ejected when the incident unfolded. Other attendees hid under tables, a reporter told PEOPLE inside the dinner.
Recounting the tense moments, Trump said: “When they said ‘Get down,’ that meant trouble… I listened to what they said… ‘Sir, please get down,'” explaining how he initially went to safety before fully complying with instructions. “I was about halfway through when they said, ‘Please get down on the floor,’ so I got down on the floor. So did the first lady,” he added.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California. He was traveling on an Amtrak train from Los Angeles to Chicago and then on to Washington and checked into the Hilton on Friday, Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said.
Blanche also said Trump and top members of his administration were likely targets.
Trump, who has boycotted the media gala in the past, asked to postpone the dinner within 30 days. White House Correspondents’ Association president Weijia Jiang told CBS that the group’s board of directors will determine their next steps.
