Most of the incidents of stone pelting on trains under the Southern Railway division in the last three years have been reported on the Kozhikode-Kannur section, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF). According to available data, there were more than 50 such major cases under Palakkad division alone, they added.
According to RPF officers, the trains frequently targeted were Sampark Kranti Express, Vande Bharat Express, Mangaluru-Chennai Superfast and Netravati Express.
