Gurugram Police issues WFH advisory to corporate offices amid sinking roads, waterlogging and endless traffic jams | Today’s news

Gurugram Rains: Amid predictions of continued extremely heavy rains, the Gurugram police on Tuesday issued a public advisory urging corporate offices and private establishments to allow employees to work from home over the next few days to help reduce traffic congestion and ensure public safety.

The alert comes as heavy rain continues to lash parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), raising fears of waterlogging and traffic snarls in Gurugram.

In its advisory, the Gurugram police said that continuous rainfall and the forecast of more heavy showers could lead to waterlogging on major roads and junctions, significantly affecting traffic movement.

“In view of the continuous rainfall in Gurugram and the forecast of heavy rains in the coming days, there is a high possibility of waterlogging and traffic jams on major roads and junctions in the city,” the advisory said.

NH-48 collapse causes major traffic disruption

Gurugram: A Kia Seltos car gets stuck in a rainwater drain along National Highway 48 amid heavy waterlogging during monsoon rains near Narsinghpur village in Gurugram, India on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

One of the most significant impacts of Tuesday’s rain was reported on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48), where the main road near Narsinghpur partially caved in following heavy rains.

The damage forced authorities to close two lanes, resulting in long traffic queues stretching from Hero Honda Chowk to Kherki Daula Toll Plaza.

To ease the congestion, the Gurugram police have put in place temporary diversions.

“Route diversions have been put in place to ensure smooth operation and prioritize the safety of motorists traveling from Delhi to Jaipur.”

The advisory directed commuters from Delhi to take a left turn at Rajiv Chowk or Hero Honda Chowk and use the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR Road), while others were advised to use the Dwarka Expressway.
