‘Bengaluru weather never misses a plot twist’: Internet reacts to waterlogged roads, long traffic jams and chaos with heavy rain | Today’s news
After days of soaring temperatures, heavy rainfall lashed parts of Karnataka on Monday, disrupting normal life in rural areas of Bengaluru and Chikkaballapur and triggering widespread waterlogging, traffic jams and frustrated reactions online.
Several roads in areas including Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, Hoskote, Chintamani and Bagepalli were submerged after heavy rains, slowing traffic and causing long delays for commuters.
Images circulating online showed waterlogged streets, vehicles driving slowly through flooded sections and rainwater entering residential areas in several low-lying locations.

For many residents, the sudden change in weather seemed like another dramatic moment in Bengaluru’s weather – something social media users were quick to point out.
“One moment it was summer in Bengaluru. The next – high winds, umbrellas giving up, roads full of rain water and vehicles lighting up in the middle of the day. Bengaluru weather never misses a plot,” wrote one user on X.
Roads flooded, commute affected
According to officials, heavy rain has significantly affected movement in several parts of rural Bengal and neighboring regions.
Rainwater accumulated on major roads leading to slow traffic and inconvenience for office goers and daily commuters. In some low-lying residential areas, water was reportedly entering houses, disrupting normal activities and causing inconvenience to residents.
Another social media user wrote: “Heavy rains cause waterlogging on some streets in Bengaluru, #India.
Several users have also complained online about deteriorating civic conditions in the rapidly developing areas around the city.
“This whole area from varthur – dommasandra – Sarjapura feels like an active war zone. Unbelievable amount of pollution, potholes like craters, large stretches of muddy roads etc. It’s worse than war torn Syria,” wrote another user.
The rain-related disruption has once again sparked online conversations about Bengaluru’s infrastructure woes during extreme weather conditions.
IMD warns of more rain and hail
Amid the heavy rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that parts of South India are likely to continue to receive rain in the coming days.
Speaking to ANI, IMD scientist Akhilesh Shrivastav said that Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will witness rain activity while Karnataka may also experience hail.

“Northwest India will remain largely dry, leading to an increase in temperatures. However, rain is expected in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. A heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Kerala. Karnataka may also experience hailstorms, while northeast India is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall,” he said.
The IMD’s warning comes as the weather continues to fluctuate wildly in various parts of the country.
Heat wave warning for Delhi, other areas
While southern states brace for rain, north and central India is expected to continue to experience scorching heat.
Shrivastav said Delhi-NCR could see temperatures in the range of 42 to 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days, with isolated heat waves expected in some parts of the capital.
“The maximum temperatures recorded yesterday were between 42-43 degrees Celsius. Our estimate is that during the next week, temperatures in Delhi may remain between 42-44 degrees Celsius. Temperatures may reach 45 degrees in the next 3 days and isolated heat waves are also expected in Delhi. An ‘orange alert’ has been issued for Delhi for the next two days,” he said.
He further warned that severe heat wave may also prevail in Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.

“A ‘warm night’ warning has been issued in West Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh and an ‘orange alert’ has also been issued for this. Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha may experience severe heat conditions for which an ‘orange alert’ has also been issued,” he added.
Internet flooded with memes, frustration
As videos of flooded roads and chaotic traffic circulated online, netizens reacted with a mixture of humor and frustration.
Many users joked about Bengaluru’s unpredictable weather patterns, while others highlighted recurring concerns about drainage systems, potholes and the strain on infrastructure during heavy rain.
The sudden shift from scorching heat to torrential downpour also triggered memes comparing Bengaluru’s weather to a “conspiracy” that residents never see.
But for commuters stuck in traffic and residents dealing with flooded streets, online jokes reflected a wider reality – that even a few hours of heavy rain can bring parts of a city to a standstill.
