District Election Officer and Collector VR Subulaxmi inspects the counting center at Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology in Vellore on May 3.
A four-tier security arrangement will be in place at counting centers in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts on May 4 (Monday), where sealed Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) along with VVPAT (paper voter verification record) units have been kept in safes.
District revenue officials said routine checks in security rooms where EVMs and VVPAT machines were sealed and guarded round-the-clock by police personnel were being conducted daily by the District Election Officer (DEO) in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts. “The allotted election staff have been directed to reach the counting centers on May 4 at around 5:30 am. Adequate parking of vehicles has also been provided for the election staff and police. A control room with a helpline number (18004257004) has also been set up in the DEO office to report any election-related incidents,” Vellore DEO Ms. Hindulaxmi said.
