The government’s approval of the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), which seeks to convert industrial land inside the Outer Ring Road (ORR) into multi-purpose zones, is a major scandal, the BJP alleged here on Wednesday.
Nearly 10,000 acres of land in industrial areas like Balanagar, Sanathnagar, Jeedimetla, Patancheru, Kattedan, Uppal, Nacharam, Mallapur, Cherlapally, Kushaiguda, IDA Bollaram and Ramachandrapuram are being unilaterally converted into multiple use zones, creating an opportunity for change for thousands of Redapees executives. others at a press conference at the state office.
On the other hand, thousands of farmers in 850 villages in ORR and beyond within the HMDA limits do not even get permission to build their own houses as their land falls under zones like conservation, public/semi-public, recreation, open space, transport, traffic and peri-urban, he said.
A BJP leader asked why farmers’ requests to convert their land into residential or multi-purpose zones are not being approved. “Why are they being made to wait for years? The government, which made decisions in favor of the elite, ignored the plight of innocent, poor farmers,” he claimed.
The party demanded that the government review the HMDA master plan and redefine the zones in favor of farmers, convert all farmers’ land inside the ORR into residential/multi-purpose zones, allow every farmer outside the ORR to rezone at least five acres of land, simplify the rezoning process and ensure access to Ring Road-adjacent land through service roads.
It also challenged the purported grant of pollution and environmental clearances for these land conversions under the HILTP. “If apartments, high-rises, commercial complexes and malls come up, traffic jams, shortage of drinking water, sewage problems and lack of basic infrastructure will make life unbearable,” Mr. Reddy said.
