Diplomatic community joins Yoga Day celebrations

Several members of the diplomatic corps in New Delhi participated in a yoga session along with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Sunday (June 21, 2026).

The Australian High Commission and the French Embassy in New Delhi released special videos to mark the occasion.

This year saw the 12th edition of the International Day of Yoga with the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, which highlighted the importance of yoga for all ages.

“Joined the diplomatic corps in New Delhi to celebrate the #InternationalDayofYoga. As Prime Minister @narendramodi emphasized, we must strive to make yoga a part of our lives, a part of our families and our future generations. #YogaForHealthyAgeing,” Mr Jaishankar wrote on X.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating the day and participated in a mega yoga in Kolkata.

The Australian High Commission video was shared on X by the country’s ambassador, Philip Green.

“From New Delhi to Chennai, Mumbai to Kolkata and Bengaluru – Team Australia in India is coming together! Watch our teams across India come together for a powerful #InternationalYogaDay celebration. Yoga truly unites us all across Australia India borders and cultures,” he wrote.

The French Embassy has released an engaging video showing its members participating in a yoga class held in a hall on the embassy premises with a cut-out model of the iconic Eiffel Tower in the background.

“Deadlines, meetings, endless emails… and then a moment to breathe. This #InternationalDayOfYoga, the embassy colleagues went from stress to stretch, exchanging tension for balance in the great hall, with our yoga mats and T-shirts forming the colors of the French flag,” it said in its post on X.
