The Election Commission on Saturday advanced the deadline for filing pleas and objections in Delhi under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by one month to October 30, according to a statement issued by the election body.
The final voter list will now be released on December 4, according to PTI.
The deadline for processing notices, complaints and objections has also been moved by a month, with the new deadline set for November 30.

The revised timeline comes after Delhi’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) requested changes to the SIR plan in a letter dated September 23.
It also monitors the ongoing process of complaints and objections following the publication of the draft voter lists, which contain more than 97 million voters.

The EC has issued notices to 33.13 lakh voters regarding “discrepancies” in the information provided through their enumeration forms. A significant number of these cases include details that could not be compared with the electoral roll prepared during the previous SIR in 2002.
Prominent electors among the notices issued; what did the officials say?
The Delhi election authorities also issued notices to several prominent voters, including former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Election Commissioner SS Sandhu, former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

However, officials said field verification confirmed the details of most of these voters and their names were retained for inclusion in the final voter list.

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, had earlier clarified that receiving a notice does not automatically mean that a voter’s name will be removed from the electoral roll.

Voters who have been served notices can send their replies along with required supporting documents to the concerned Electoral Registration Officer or Cabinet Level Officer (BLO), the office said.
Election officials also stressed that no voter can be struck off the roll without following the prescribed procedure, which includes giving the person an opportunity to be heard and issuing a reasoned order that can be appealed.
Delhi will organize special SIR camps on September 27
A new round of special camps will be organized in Delhi on September 27 to help eligible citizens whose names were missing from the draft voter list to apply for inclusion in the ongoing SIR.
Data released by the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi showed that between August 31 and September 24, 1,21,224 applications for inclusion in the electoral roll in Form 6 were received.
The camps will be held in all polling stations in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer said in a press release on Friday. The drill comes a week after the first special camp held on Sept. 20 and will provide another opportunity for eligible citizens who were left off the draft list.
The Election Commission announced the Delhi SIR schedule on 14 May 2026 with the stated objective of ensuring that “no eligible citizen is left out while no ineligible person is included in the electoral roll”.
