On Sunday (April 20, 2025), the Indian army launched a community radio station “Voice of Kinnaur” in Pooh, in the district of Kinnaur, Himacal Pradesh, bordering China.
The “Voice of Kinnaur”, based on the flagship of the army, is assumed as a local level platform that provides local reports, promotes regional culture, shares educational and health content and sends critical information on public interest, the army said.
“Kinnaur’s voice is a symbol of trust and cooperation between the Indian army and Himachal Pradesh people. It will play a key role while maintaining cultural heritage, amplifying community votes and ensuring access to timely and relevant information in this remote region,” region.

In its statement, the army reaffirmed its commitment to “holistic development and community welfare in distant areas of Himachal Pradesh” and added that regular broadcasts were launched soon, “supporting the feeling of unity and progress”.
The director of the Tripeak Army, where a radio station was established, started the vote of Kinnaur services. Inaugurations were present by higher officers of the command of the Indian army Surya command, which was also attended by members of local administration, other government officials and local residents.
