What’s happening today

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke is set to join a student-led protest in Lucknow at Eco Garden on Friday, intensifying a nationwide campaign demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, including the NEET paper leak controversy. Dipke said on social networking site X that he would attend the demonstration after earlier protests in Delhi and Pune.

Lucknow Police Clearance Status

However, the status of police clearance for the protest in Lucknow remains unclear. Local authorities did not confirm whether the rally had been approved and official responses from senior police officials were not immediately available. Dipke said that if permission is not granted, the organizers will seek approval and proceed in a peaceful and constitutional manner, as they have done in previous demonstrations.

Why it matters

The protest movement points to growing concerns among organizers about alleged systemic failures in India’s administration of checks. The CJP alleged that repeated paper leaks and disruptions in examinations such as NEET, CBSE and CUET have caused widespread unrest among students. The group says there is a lack of accountability in the education ministry and has called for structural reforms through its “examination statement”, warning of a widespread national agitation that culminated in a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on 20 June.
