The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced a candlelight rally at Jantar Mantar on June 22, saying the event would honor the students who allegedly lost their lives due to what it described as government failures linked to the NEET paper leak controversy.

He invited supporters to join the program at 5.30pm and bring candles as a show of solidarity with the students.

“We are lighting candles today at Jantar Mantar in memory of every student who lost their lives due to the government’s incompetence that led to the NEET paper leak. 5:30 pm. June 22. Jantar Mantar. “Come with a candle, let’s stand for our students!” CJP said on X.

The nationwide examination for NEET-UG 2026 concluded on Sunday in India and 14 overseas locations. More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the medical entrance test, which was conducted at 5,440 centers amid extensive multi-layered security measures aimed at ensuring the integrity of the examination process.

CJP Jantar Mantar protest

The CJP continued its protest at Jantar Mantar for the third day in a row on Monday, demanding action over alleged examination irregularities and the May 3 NEET paper leak. The day began with CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke thanking volunteer Mohd Junaid, who, according to CJP, helped distribute juice packets and snacks to students who slept overnight at the protest site.

The demonstration, which began on Saturday afternoon, continued throughout the night, with protesters remaining in place under the presence of police.

Volunteers were seen providing participants with food and drinking water while the session lasted overnight. On Sunday, Dipke said that the agitation would continue on Monday and appealed to farmers’ organizations and the general public to support the movement.

Chants, speeches and cultural programs were held at the protest site throughout Sunday, with supporters clapping, playing daflis and singing patriotic songs. Organizers said the gathering had grown to more than 200 participants by evening.

Dipke renewed his demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and accused the government of failing to ensure accountability in the exam controversy.

The CJP founder also called for compensation to the families of students who were allegedly driven to commit suicide after the paper was leaked and the examination was subsequently cancelled.

On Sunday, he called on the authorities not to block access to the protest site and to restore water supply to public washrooms. Protesters had previously complained of disruptions to basic amenities, although they later said access to drinking water had been restored.

The CJP said her protest will continue until her demands are met, with organizers expecting farmer groups to join the agitation later in the day. The demonstration is being held under heightened security, with police personnel deployed and barricades erected around the protest site.

Meanwhile, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the protest on Saturday, said she would go on an indefinite hunger strike on June 27 if Pradhan did not step down.
