The centenary celebrations of the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Mysuru will be held from November 21 to 24, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurating the four-day event.
This was announced by Swami Muktidananda, the president of the Mysuru branch of the ashram, which was established in 1925 through the efforts of Swami Siddeshwara and shifted to the present premises in 1931 through the patronage of the then Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.
Talking to the media, Swami Muktidananda said that the golden jubilee celebrations of the Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education (RIMSE) and the silver jubilee of the Viveka Prabha ashram magazine will be part of the event.
Mr. Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the celebrations at the Vivekananda Auditorium on the premises of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala on November 21 at 3.30 pm in the presence of senior pontiffs of the Sri Ramakrishna Mission, including Swami Gautamananda, President of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission, West Belur Mutt.
Earlier in the day, Pejawar Mutt seer Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swami Sri Ramakrishna will perform puja, homa and arati and other rituals will follow. The four-day event will be ushered in by a series of programs and Chairman Administrative Reforms Mr. RV Deshpande will release the centenary souvenir at 11.50 am at the Ashram premises.
On November 22, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate a session on the contribution of the former Mysuru royal family to popularize the teachings and philosophy of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda at the Vidyasala premises. Mysuru District Chairman HC Mahadevappa will inaugurate RIMSE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations at 2.45 pm
On November 23, Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna will inaugurate Vivek Prabha’s silver jubilee celebrations at 3 pm, followed by a seminar on Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. On November 24, Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will attend the valedictory functions at 9 am. A multimedia presentation by Vivek Gatha on Swami Vivekananda and his message will be telecast in the evening.
Swami Muktidananda said the four-day event would trace the Ashram’s remarkable journey during which it has emerged as an influential force in the fields of culture, development and education.
