The Delhi Traffic Police has issued another traffic alert for Thursday, September 3, for the trial run of the BRICS Summit 2026. Several key roads in Delhi will be affected by restrictions and diversions during the trial hours from 10 am to 3 pm.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the 18th BRICS Summit will be held from September 12 to 13 at Bharat Mandapam on Pragati Maidan.
Delhi Police counsel for X said traffic movement will be regulated at 22 diversion points and over 35 roads during the trial. Motorists were advised to plan their journeys and use alternative routes whenever possible.
Core corridors hit
Vehicular movement will be restricted on more than 35 major roads in New Delhi and South Delhi during the five-hour trial window. Key regulated routes include:
- Central and New Delhi: Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road, Tolstoy Marg and Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg.
- Connecting arteries: Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, Africa Avenue Road and Ranjeet Singh Flyover.
- Diplomatic and Southern Enclaves: Shanti Path, Satya Marg, Niti Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Kemal Ataturk Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and Josef Broz Tito Marg.

Alternative routes for airports and railway stations
The traffic advisory strongly advises to use the Delhi Metro for travel to the airport and railways as all metro lines and stations will operate as normal.
Alternative routes have been suggested for passengers traveling by road:
IGI Airport (Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4): Commuters from South and New Delhi should take AIIMS Chowk – Moti Bagh Chowk – RTR Marg – Shankar Vihar flyover – Ulan Batar Marg.
Commuters from Gurugram can access T3/T4/T2 via Rao Gajraj Singh Marg — Old Delhi Gurugram Road — UER II, while Dwarka commuters are routed via Sector-22 Road and UER II.
New Delhi Railway Station: Proposed approaches include ISBT Kashmir Gate — Rani Jhansi Marg — DBG Road — Panchkuian Road — Outer Circle CP, or via Ring Road — Rajghat — JLN Marg.
Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station: Passengers should use Ring Road via AIIMS or Rajghat leading towards Ashram Chowk and Mathura Road.
Old Delhi Railway Station: Accessible via ISBT Kashmir Gate — Ring Road — SP Mukherjee Marg.
Officials said metro services will remain operational, while bus routes may face diversions during VIP transfers. Taxis and autorickshaws will not be allowed to park along the roads except in designated areas.
The traffic police have advised commuters to plan their journeys well in advance, especially if they are traveling to the airport, railway station and ISBT. Undesignated commercial vehicles will also be banned from entering Delhi during the regulated period.
Emergency and medical vehicles will have barrier-free access, while essential services and utilities will continue to have access.
Officials advised commuters to follow the directions of traffic staff, avoid roadside parking within 200 meters of controlled roads and report any suspicious objects or activity to the nearest police officer.
