A 32-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a mason at MV Kuppam near Pernambut town in Vellore on Sunday over a petty dispute.
The arrested person was identified as S. Mani, a native of MV Kuppam. He was an autorickshaw driver in the village. The victim B. Gajendran (52), a mason, also belongs to the village. Initial investigation revealed that suspect Mani had a fight with local AIADMK functionary S. Balaji (43) for not giving him money on April 23, the day of the elections. When Balaji ignored him, Mani got upset and beat him up. The two exchanged blows.
