After more than a week of dry weather, light to moderate rainfall occurred in several parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday afternoon.
The day started with clear skies and scattered cumulus clouds making for a picturesque post Deepavali morning. Many residents were seen capturing photos and videos as the city basked in the pleasant light. However, the weather took a sudden turn in the afternoon as dark clouds gathered and showers spread over several places.
Areas including LB Nagar, Uppal, Nacharam, Mallapur, AS Rao Nagar, Alwal, parts of Jubilee Hills and parts of old city reported light rainfall.
According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, as of 4 pm, Vanashalipurum rankal recorded 15.5 m followed by 14.3 m lb nagar, 7 mm in borabanda, 6.3 mm in charangutta, 6.3 mm in Saurnagar, 5.8 mm in saurnagar, 5.8 mm in sagar, 5 mm in Jubilee and 4.5 mm in of madhapura and 4 mm in faalah.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly clear skies for Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours. “Light rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are very likely to occur in some parts of the city. Mist or fog is very likely to prevail during the morning or night hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius,” the latest IMD bulletin said.
The bulletin also said that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgi Districts Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
