‘Take tomorrow off’ — Bengaluru chief’s post-holiday chat goes viral; netizens envy chill workplace | Today’s news

Indian workplaces are notorious for their anti-employee policies, and social media is often dominated by stories of toxic management and burnout. However, a viral post on Reddit shared a refreshing new insight into the power of empathic leadership at a Bengaluru-based firm.

After a 10-day break, the employee sent a message to the “big boss” who is the founder of his company to announce their return and expected an immediate mountain of tasks. Instead, the boss insisted they take an extra day off just to decompress and transition back smoothly.

The unexpectedly kind gesture took the internet by storm and sparked widespread envy among workers accustomed to a relentless hustle culture.

What did the boss say?

The viral thread is according to the Head of Operations at Business Strategy Firm, according to their Reddit profile.

The Redditor said they went on a 10-day vacation and informed their boss that they would be back tomorrow. However, to their surprise, their “big boss” asked them to take one more day to settle in and not rush into work.

“I was on a 10-day vacation and informed the founder that I would be returning to work the next day. Instead of confirming my return, he told me to take another day off to rest and calm down before starting again,” the post read.

According to a screenshot of the chat, the employee told his boss, “I am back in Bangalore now and will resume work from tomorrow.”

To this the boss replied: “That sounds good, take tomorrow off too and get some rest. You can pick up your things from Wednesday.”

Touched by the kind gesture, the Redditor said, “As someone who came from a strict corporate environment, it made me feel great and valued!”

How did netizens react?

Social media users were green with envy and wished their boss was also a “green flag” like the Redditor.

“God’s favorite child? Is that you?” asked a jealous user.

Another said: “Seriously, you’re lucky bro. When I ask my manager for even one day off, he acts like I’m asking for his property.”

“Your boss is super cool. All and sundry deserve it and it should be normalized to some degree,” the user suggested.

Several netizens also said that they were so “traumatized” at their workplaces that they also find the kind message sarcastic.

“I’ve been dealing with so much toxicity that I find the message from your boss sarcastic. I need help,” said one netizen.

“I saw them pick things up from tomorrow” and my first thought was they’re kicking the guy out,” said another.

“Is your boss hiring? Lmao likes to work with people like him,” one of them asked. While another said: “I would be traumatized by this reaction. I think I have PTSD.”

Many users also claimed that the post was a dream and not reality. Some even considered it an AI-generated post, while others claimed the boss was also on Reddit and the post remained in good standing.
