Bengaluru woman says she found lowest price – ‘1RK for ₹25,000’; the internet is in two minds | Today’s news
A woman recently started an Instagram account to brag about her experiences in Bengaluru. As she continues her flat-hunting in the city, she recently shared the lowest rental price she came across. Although she was looking for a 1 BHK (bedroom, hall and kitchen), she said her budget could only get her a 1 RK (room, kitchen).
Cheapest flat in Bengaluru
“The flat was priced so low that I felt the owner might have to bear the loss so I gave up,” wrote @namma_rants jokingly about why she didn’t go for RK.
In the video, she begins by saying, “Aaj maine Bangalore me ek dum sasta flat dekha sahi me. Starting se batati hu hua kya tha (Today I found an incredibly affordable flat in Bengaluru, seriously. Let me tell you from the beginning what happened).”
She revealed that she couldn’t find an apartment in her budget during the hunt. “That much didn’t fit in the budget. So I told my brother it wouldn’t fit in my budget.”
That’s when she said the realtor offered to show her an apartment within her budget. “I have an affordable apartment for you. It fits your budget,” he told me. I said, “Show me, brother.” As the end of the month was approaching, I was excited.’
1 RK per ₹25,000
She went on to share pictures of a “sasta (cheap)” flat which was one RK.
“It’s not a 1BHK. It’s one room-kitchen that was only for.” ₹25,000.”
“Maine kaha bhaiya itna sasta kiu dikha rahe ho. Ek dum hi budget gira diya (I asked, ‘Brother, why are you showing me such a cheap flat? You have reduced the budget by so much). But this is too little,'” she added sarcastically.
Netizens react
The post received mixed reactions online.
While many agreed with the alleged rent, some claimed to have found cheaper places in Bengaluru.
One of them wrote in the comments, “I was paying 22k for a 1BHK in Bellandur which I left when the owner asked to increase the rent to 30k. Now I live in a big 3BHK flat paying only 26k.”
“Main Mumbai 18k main mil jata hain 1 room kitchen (in Mumbai you can get 1 RK for just ₹18,000),” compared another.
Another commented: “I think local flat owners in Bengaluru and PGs assume that everyone in Bengaluru earns more than ₹1 lakh per month. This misconception needs to be studied because all kinds of people work there and not everyone wants to live in PG. This is what happens when people overrun the city. I once had an argument with an apartment broker about this. He told me, “I thought you made a lot of money because people here are willing to pay ₹30,000 or more for a 1 BHK, even on the outskirts of the city.”
