Akbar Shah, a resident of Kilikollur, has issued an explanation and apology following the incident where he damaged the flex board of former CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan during a protest rally organized by SFI Kollam district committee.

In the video, Shah explained that he tore down the banner after “mistaking” it for the Congress party’s promotional material. He further clarified that he had not intentionally infiltrated the gathering and sought “forgiveness” for his actions.

Confirming his organizational background, Mr. Shah mentioned that he was previously an active worker in both SFÚ and DYFI before moving abroad for employment. While on vacation at home, he came across a demonstration in the city of Kollam and spontaneously joined it. He rejected claims by party leaders and cadres that he had no connection with the SFÚ and claimed that he was indeed a former member.

The incident took place during a protest march organized by SFI Kollam district committee as part of the nationwide student strike. After the incident, the SFI district leadership issued a statement that the individual had no membership or active role in any SFI committee. The management added that there was a need to investigate how he managed to enter the procession and stressed that such behavior was unacceptable.

SFÚ Kollam District Committee has also demanded strict legal action in this matter.
