Man stabbed to death for confronting daughter’s molester

A 55-year-old auto driver was allegedly stabbed to death and his son seriously injured at their home after they confronted the youth for allegedly molesting his daughter at Bagh-e-Jahara in Madannapet on Thursday evening.

The victim, Mohd Hasmath Ali Khan, allegedly interrogated Habeeb Mohammad, aged around 27, and warned him about the alleged molestation of his daughter. Police said the confrontation turned violent when Habeeb allegedly attacked Hasmath with a knife at his home, killing him on the spot. When Hasmath’s son Omar tried to intervene, he was also allegedly attacked and suffered serious injuries.

Omar was taken to a private hospital for treatment. Madannapet police reached the spot after being alerted and registered a case. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to establish the sequence of events and trace the suspect.

Thursday’s killing comes amid a spate of killings reported in Hyderabad during September, several of which involved knives or sickles, although the motives varied.
