Man held for murdering partner after fight

Bengaluru police have arrested a man from Assam for allegedly murdering his 21-year-old partner after an argument over a trivial issue and trying to pass off her death as a suicide.

Accused Munnadas, a resident of Lakhipur in Assam, befriended Champoodas, also from Assam, and brought her to Bengaluru. The two lived together as tenants in a house in Naganathapura.

On August 30, the house owner approached the Parappana Agrahara police after finding the woman dead under suspicious circumstances. The complainant expressed her suspicions about the man who lives with her. Police first registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and started an investigation.

However, a post-mortem report received on 15 September stated that the cause of death was asphyxiation and that forcible asphyxia due to suffocation could not be ruled out. After being notified, the police converted the case to a case of murder.

On September 16, Munnadas was secured near Rayasandra and interrogated. The accused was brought before the court on September 16 and taken into judicial custody.
