AP Government to set up fire station in every constituency: Minister

The Andhra Pradesh government plans to set up a fire station in every assembly constituency, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Disaster Management Vangalapudi Anitha said on Friday.

Launching several development works along with Power Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar at Addanki town in Prakasam district, she said, “After the Alliance government came to power, we have opened several new fire stations across the state. We have also increased the number of fire engines to reduce the response time to 10-15 minutes. With a financial support of ₹ 210 crore, the state has already spent ₹ 110 crore to purchase the centre. fire equipment and vehicles.”

As part of infrastructure development at Addanki, a new fire station building was constructed at a cost of ₹2.25 crore, with funds allocated under the 15th Finance Commission. “A new fire engine has been procured for this station at a cost of ₹75 crore,” said Ms. Anitha.

The Home Secretary outlined the progress made by the Fire Services Department and provided departmental details regarding the Addanki Fire Station. She recalled that the fire station was sanctioned in 2012 and had been operating since December 30, 2013 out of a temporary shed with a single garage located at the Agricultural Market.

She informed that Addanki Fire Station serves six mandals – Addanki, Korisapadu, J. Panguluru, Ballikurva, Santhanuthalapadu and Mundlamuru – and is effectively meeting the needs of emergency services in these areas. She said that to enhance the capabilities of the fire station, modern equipment has been provided along with the latest vehicle to ensure better service to the fire personnel.

According to the Home Secretary, the station dealt with 47 accidents during 2025-26, saved property worth ₹1.70 crore and rescued six persons safely through rescue operations. So far in 2026-27, it has responded to 94 incidents, rescued property worth ₹2.05 crore and saved two lives. She praised the fire officials for their efficient work in this regard.

She also mentioned that road construction across the state is being accelerated so that firefighters and police can reach accident sites quickly.

A 33/11 kV semi-indoor electrical substation constructed at a cost of ₹ 7.72 crore was inaugurated at Addanki. Mr. Ravi Kumar said that the new substation will solve the problems of low voltage in Addanki and surrounding areas. The Home Secretary appreciated the services of the Power Minister for ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state despite El Niño conditions.
