IndiGo is increasing the price of several additional services, which means you will now have to shell out more money to avail services like traveling with children, unaccompanied minor assistance, priority services, excess baggage and travel certificates.

Additional services will significantly increase the travel costs of passengers beyond the basic ticket.

Here’s a look at the revised charges:

• According to media reports, the travel fee for infants has increased to ₹3,000 from ₹2,000, a sharp increase of 50%. Applies to infants up to 2 years old. A ticket must be reserved for them, even though they do not get a separate seat as part of the arrangement
• The fee for unaccompanied minors has increased by ₹999, that means the individual using the service will now have to pay ₹5,999. This service applies to children traveling unaccompanied by an adult in accordance with applicable airline rules.
• On international flights, the unaccompanied minor service will be charged ₹12,999.
• Excess baggage will now cost extra ₹800 per kg, from ₹700 sooner, adding to the additional cost ₹100 per additional kilogram.
• IndiGo has increased the fee for priority check-in and boarding ₹200, increase to ₹650 from ₹450 earlier.
• The airline also increased the cost of the travel certificate ₹300, from ₹200 as per previous fee structure.
• The airline has also increased the price of its Fast Forward service, which provides passengers with priority check-in and boarding. The fee was increased from ₹500 to ₹650, while the fee for international flights costs Rs ₹850 per sector.

So if you are traveling with IndiGo, you may need to check applicable service and baggage charges when calculating your total travel cost.

With a fleet of more than 430 aircraft, the airline operates nearly 2,200 flights a day.

Airline, airport shares rise despite lower ATF export charges

The Ministry of Finance has reduced the export duty on ATF to ₹15 per liter from ₹19 per liter with effect from September 16. The government has also reduced export duties on petrol to ₹0.5 per liter from ₹1.5 per liter and the total levy from diesel to ₹20 per liter from ₹25 per liter.

The latest move comes at a time when the government is reviewing export duties on petroleum products every fortnight based on international prices of crude oil, petrol, diesel and ATF.

The development weighed on airline and airport shares, which gained in early trading on Thursday.

Among the airline-related stocks traded was InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo ₹4,759.50, more ₹26 or 0.55 percent in early trading Thursday.

SpiceJet shares were trading at ₹8.25, an increase of 0.08 or 0.98 percent. GMR Airports, which operates airport assets, traded at ₹93.61, more ₹1.15 or 1.24 percent.
