Foreign airlines gain ground as Indian carriers cut international flights in first half of 2026 | Today’s news

Emirates, India’s largest foreign carrier, was broadly flat, carrying 1.40 million passengers from India in January-June 2026, compared with 1.44 million a year earlier. Etihad carried 830,000 (up from 800,000), while Singapore Airlines rose to 680,000 (up from 640,000). Lufthansa increased its traffic to 400,000 from 380,000 million, while Cathay Pacific surged to 330,000 from 270,000. Switzerland and KLM also saw their traffic in India grow to 100,000 and 180,000 from 80,000 and 160,000 respectively.
