Jasprit Bumrah trains with full squad as India ramp up preparations for Afghanistan T20I
Jasprit Bumrah (PTI Photo) Jasprit Bumrah was back at the center of India’s preparations on Friday as the entire squad took part in training ahead of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. The meeting started quietly, with the players going through a light warm-up before moving on to field drills. The ten players were then divided into two groups of five, with the players working in pairs and taking turns trying to hit the stumps. The intensity increased as the team moved to the nets. Two nets were used, the spinners working at one end and the edging machines at the other.Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer spent time facing a spin group that included Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi. At the second net, Sanju Samson and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi faced a pace attack that included Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Bumrah.Axar and Shivam Dube later got their chance with the bat and several bowlers from Delhi also stepped in to help India get through a clean session in the evening. The only worrying moment came when Ishan Kishan faced Navdeep Saini. The left-hander tried to duck under the rising delivery but appeared to catch awkwardly and fell down, clutching his lower back. He was immediately looked at by a physical therapist. After spending some time with the medical staff, Kishan was able to leave the country on his own. He didn’t appear to be in any obvious discomfort as he left the practice area. The session was part of India’s preparations for the T20I series against Afghanistan. The two sides will meet on September 13, 15 and 17, with all three matches being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
